Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is a group of inherited eye disease. Multiple mutations have been described to cause PRA. PRA has been described in golden retrievers (prcd-PRA and GR-PRA1), what mutation is the cause of this disease in golden retrievers is yet to be discovered. This specific variant of the disorder is found in the Golden Retriever, and is therefore called Golden Retriever PRA (GR-PRA2). The TTC8 gene has been associated with PRA in golden retrievers.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Night blindness, loss of peripheral vision. Degenerative loss of central vision and lastly complete blindness.
