Informations générales
In British Shorthairs, a golden coat colour modification, known as Copper, Light-Gold, or Akita, is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene CORIN. Closely related to the Copper variant are the Sunshine and Extreme Sunshine mutations in the Siberian cat.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Copper British Shorthairs have reddish-gold or blond coat colour, with a light belly and paws, as well as a dark tail tip. Tabby (agouti) cats with the Copper genotype have banded hairs with a blond general phenotype, while black (non-agouti) cats with Copper are more intensely red.
Additional Information
Coat colour is an complex trait that relies on the interaction of many different genes. Several different tests may be required to form the most accurate image of an animal's coat colour genetics.
