Feline Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome (FALPS or ALPS) is a severe immune disorder in young cats that results in swollen lymph nodes and abdomen, anemia, weight loss and ultimately death. The disease is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene FASLG, and is found in the British Shorthair and related breeds.

Caractéristiques cliniques

Kittens with ALPS start showing symptoms at around 6-8 weeks of age. Affected kittens develop enlarged lymphnodes, enlarged spleen, no red blood cells. Furthermore the kittens show abdominal distension, lethargy and weight loss.
