Informations générales

Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA) is a group of disorders in which an affected animal produces little to no pigment, leading to silver/white fur, pale eyes and increased sensitivity to light. This variant of the disease, known as Oculocutaneous Albinism type 2, is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene OCA2, and occurs in the German Spitz.

Caractéristiques cliniques

Affected dogs have light brown coats that darken slightly with age, lightly pigmented lips and noses, and blue eyes. They also tend to squint and have some difficulty seeing in bright light such as sunlight.
