Bald Thigh Syndrome (BTS), also known as Pattern Baldness, is a cosmetic condition characterized by hair loss on the thighs. There are multiple causes for this condition, and genetic components are among them. BTS is an autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the IGFBP5 gene. This condition has been observed in Greyhounds, Whippets, Galgo Español, and Magyar Agár dogs.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Dogs of any age can develop the condition. The signs include hair loss on the thighs, which may sometimes extend to the lower legs, abdomen, or chest.
