We are pleased to announce that we have added three new DNA tests for coat colours in horses to the CombiBreed webshop! Two of these coat colour tests are part of the Dominant White coat colour pattern and the third colour is coat colour Brindle.

The Dominant White coat colour pattern in horses can be caused by any in a wide array of related mutations. The resulting pattern can vary anywhere between white markings on the face and legs, up to a completely white coat. Depending on both breed and pattern, variants of the Dominant White phenotype may be referred to as Splashed White, White Spotting, Tobiano or Sabino, among others. Coat Colours Dominant White W10 for the American Quarter Horse and W19 for the Arabian are now available. W10 in the American Quarter Horse is extremely variable in expression and colouration can range anywhere between white legs and facial markings to an almost entirely white body, whilst W19 in the Arabian horse gives a largely white face, extended white legs and irregular belly spots.
Both coat colours can be ordered as individual tests, select test number P390 for W10 or P391 for W19, or as part of the package Coat Colour Horse with test number P404.
Coat Colour Dominant White – W19 is also available as part of the CombiBreed package for the Arabian horse (test number P858).

Brindle coat colour is recognized by vertical stripes on the coat with a change in texture along the neck, back, hindquarters and upper legs. Furthermore it may show a change in pigmentation. This phenotype, called brindle 1 (BR1), can occur on any colour background and shows seasonal changes. Coat Colour Brindle (BR1) can be tested with test number P316.
